How it all began – our family business.

Back in 1988 Rick and Valerie Sawin founded Charleston’s Rigging & Marine Hardware Inc. Rick managed sales and Valerie made nylon slings and did the book keeping. In 10 years the business grew very quickly and they moved to a bigger location in 1998. In 2000 the second location in Columbia SC was opened, “Carolina’s Rigging”. Fast forward to 2006, they opened up a third location in Augusta GA, “Carolina’s Rigging”. Soon after Jessica Sage and Skip Sawin joined the business. 2008 brought about Charleston’s Rigging & Marine Hardware’s 20th anniversary and Valerie Sawin’s retirement.

Growing for two generations – 3 locations and over 40 team members.

In 2010 they expanded their Charleston facility to accommodate more inventory. In 2011, Rick Sawin retired and Jessica Sage and Skip Sawin, the sister and brother team became 2nd generation owners of the family business. CR is still proudly serving customers that worked with their parents back in 1988.

The future is bright.

In 2017 CR expanded and relocated their Columbia location to the new industrial park off I-77. The Columbia location has 5 overhead cranes! Approaching the 30^th anniversary of CR in 2018, with 40+ awesome employees and three locations; CR is positioned well for growth in the future while providing great customer service alongside safe and reliable products. We look forward to serving you!
